Gail Miller Community Engagement Tower (GMCET)

  • On-campus residential housing for first-year students only
  • Applications for first-year housing are open and close on April 1st

First-year students of the Gail Miller Community Engagement Tower will work in collaboration with the esteemed Bennion Center for Community Engagement, fellow students, and local partners to strengthen communities through learning, scholarship, and advocacy.

Residents will have the opportunity to connect their academic knowledge with real-world applications and develop their own civic competencies through community engagement.

Residents will explore community engagement opportunities and pathways, develop awareness about justice and equity, and build connections with other students to foster a sense of belonging at the University of Utah.

Gail Miller Community Engagement Tower

Within the Gail Miller Community Engagement Tower, the Bennion Center’s Living Learning Community (LLC), High Impact Volunteer Experience (H.I.V.E) will allow students who are interested in community engagement to further explore opportunities through curricular and co-curricular high-impact volunteer engagement experiences.

Students who opt into this community will develop their civic skills, habits, actions, and values in partnership with the Bennion Center for Community Engagement and local community organizations.

 


This LLC has the following requirements:

Students selected to live in the H.I.V.E. will also be on track toward a Community Engagement Certificate and designation as a Bennion Scholar.
