Meet the '25-'26 Alt Breaks Team!

Considering themselves perhaps the luckiest people in the world, the folx on the Alternative Breaks EBoard and Admin Team have the privilege of working with students, faculty, and staff across campus as they collaborate to create the transformative community experiences that define the AB program. If you're looking to get involved with Alt Breaks or have questions about AB for credit, break discounts, or how to utilize tire chains in inclement weather conditions, these are the folx to call!

Emma Taggart

Hi friends! My name is Emma, and I'm an Education & Training Co-Coordinator! I'm in my 3rd year of college and am studying political science and gender studies. I've been involved with Alt Breaks since my 1st year at the U and have gone on an Alt Break every semester I've been here! Some of my favorite things about Alt Breaks are the opportunity to learn from each other's experiences, centering the narratives of those most affected by the topics we learn about, and that whether it's or your first time participating in community engagement or you do lots of community work you can still learn something from the experience! Some fun facts about me are I have a 1-year-old calico kitty named Sylvie, I just got married this summer, and I love playing board games. I'm so excited to be on this year's Eboard, and I can't wait to learn and un-learn with you all!

My name is Abrianna Carter. I’m a Super Senior majoring in Kinesiology, and plan on getting my doctorate in PT school. I was born and raised in Utah, however, after graduating high school, I craved a different scenery and moved to Miami, Florida. So, I am a transfer student from Barry University. I love eating, playing basketball, and spending time with my loved ones. I have the cutest Aussie dog, his name is Ozzy, and a betta fish named Royal. Being able to be a part of an experience where we uplift and aid others is super exciting for me, so I can’t wait to see what being on Eboard this year brings!

Katie Wentworth

Hello! My name is Katie and I am so excited to be working on E Board this year as Education and Training Co-Coordinator! I have been on three Alt Breaks in the past as a participant going to Seattle for Food and Hunger, Oakland for Mass Incarceration, and Portland for Urban Environmentalism. I am a Senior studying Urban Ecology and Political Science, and I will start my Masters in City and Metropolitan Planning next Fall. My favorite memory from my time working with the Bennion Center has been bonding with my fellow participants over pulling blackberry roots in the rain and meeting amazing friends!
