What Does the Eboard do?
The Eboard is comprised of 4 student leaders who work with the Program Manager and Graduate Assistant to shape the Alternative Breaks program through strategically planning, decision-making, and facilitation of program events.
What we look for in our EBoard:
- Passionate people who are willing to take initiative
- Desire to foster a power conscious community committed to inclusivity
- Able to connect program mission, vision, & values to daily tasks
- Organized and proactive individuals
- Students whose commitments, class schedules, and work arrangements allow them to fully commit to the program and its requirement
- Interest and passion for community building through events and socials
Requirements
- Previous Site Leadership recommended, but not required.
- Required previous engagement in Alternative Breaks program
- 4 hours a week during summer (can be completed remotely)
- 8-10 hours per week during fall and spring semester (most hours completed in person and hours may flucuate during different times in the semester
- Commitment to 2-day weekend (Friday night - midday Sunday) leadership retreat in August and November
- EBoard members cannot serve as Site Leaders but can go on an Alternative Break
- Must be able to drive a 6 passenger, university issued minivan
Commitment
- April 1st, 2024 - May 1st, 2025
Compensation
- Eboard members are paid $2,000 through scholarship dispersement or alternative method during fall and spring semester ($4,000 total)
Break Away Retreat
- All Eboard members will have the ability to attend the Break Away ABC's (Actively Building Community Solidarity) conference held out of state. More details
given upon position acceptance.
- Bennion will cover registration fees, hotel, and flights.

Education & Training Coordinators
(2 positions)
- Serve as primary facilitators for weekly Site Leader/Staff Partner training course

- Developing/updating lesson plans and resources
- providing feedback on content
- Assessing student learning
- Primary education facilitators of ReOrientation, held in fall and spring semester

- Update & create educational content that promotes lifelong community engagement for all Alt Break Participants
- Management of event schedule
- Assist in delegation of event tasks to Eboard team in partnership with the Program Manager
- Primary education facilitators of Alt Break Leadership Retreats

- Update & create educational content that prepares site leaders and staff partners to successfully plan their Alternative Breaks
- Assist in delegation of educational tasks to Eboard team in partnership with the Program Manager
Recruitment and Community Building Coordinators (2 positions)
Coordinator #1
- Manage Alternative Breaks’ Social Media.
- Creating recruitment materials, including social media posts, posters, and other print materials and coordination of placement across campus.
- Actively finding opportunities, and organizing/tracking Site Leader involvement in such efforts to spread knowledge of and participation in the program (tabling, class visits, club visits etc.)
- Coordinate the creation of Break Descriptions in partnership with Site Leaders
Coordinator #2
- Engage in storytelling and fundraising efforts to grow break discount funds and gather in-kind donations to support lower the cost of Alternative Breaks experiences in partnership with the Bennion Center’s Development Director.
- Coordinate community building activities for the leadership team, such as socials and support groups.
- Establish and maintain relationship between Alt Breaks and campus through ASUU and Campus Connect
- Coordinate spring T-shirt Contest by gathering submissions and promoting voting among the Alt Break community
Both
- Organize the evaluation and selection of participants for Alternative Breaks
- Outreach to Professors, Students, Alumni, Clubs and other organizations on campus to get the word out and create partnerships
- Participate in tabling and classroom visits
