Clean The Darn Air is ballot measure for the 2020 election that would place a modest tax on fossil fuels. The revenue from the tax would be used fund projects to clean up local air pollution and fund rural economic development. Additionally about two-thirds of the revenue would be used to reduce existing taxes, including eliminating the state sales tax on grocery store food. In short: we’re going to tax pollution instead of potatoes, and we’re going to put the money that’s left over into improving local air quality and promoting rural economic development.
Want to get involved? We’re hoping to recruit 15-20 students who want to support the ballot initiative by gathering the darn signatures on campus during the first month of the semester. Sign up to be an “emissionary” today and receive $500 for collecting 1,000 signatures! Or you can work as a volunteer and collect signatures for the sake of cleaning our darn air! Please visit our web site (CleanTheDarnAir.org) and join our email list. If you are interested in becoming part of the U of U signature gathering team please send a message to dave@darnair.org.
