Girls Scouts Outreach
On average, how many hours a week should a Program Liaison expect to commit to this program?
Volunteer shifts are generally 1 hour per week. A partnership liaison can expect an additional 1-2 hours each week.
Who does your program serve?
- Girl Scouts of Utah partners with Title I schools and community centers across the Salt Lake Valley to provide the Girl Scouts experience to underseved populations.
- Imagine impacting the life of a girl because you helped her discover her inner leader. What if you could do that every week with your very own group of girls to mentor? The Girl Scouts of Utah Outreach Program provides troops at sites throughout the Salt Lake Valley for girls who might not be able to participate without council sponsorship, and it's only possible with volunteers like you. Come lead or co-lead a group of girls with structured cirriculum that also gives you the freedom to be creative and tailor programming to your girls. We encourage you to recruit a friend to be a co-leader with you! This program provides membership, training, curriculum, and swag.
Are there specific days/times that you must be available?
- The majority of troops meet between 1:30pm and 6:00pm Monday through Friday. Outreach troops generally meet one hour per week (plus any preparation time) for the duration of the program. Girl Scouts asks for commitment of a semester, preferably a year.
What are your unique duties as the Program Liaison that are separate from your Bennion Center-specific responsibilities?
- None identified
Green Urban Lunchbox
On average, how many hours a week should a Program Liaison expect to commit to this program?
Volunteer shifts are generally 1 hour per week. A partnership liaison can expect an additional 1-2 hours each week.
Who does your program serve?
- Green Urban Lunchbox empowers communities through encouraging engagement in community gardens and local food production. Volunteers take home fresh produce and the rest are given to community members, especially those who may face barriers in accessing these resources.
- We offer a diverse array of programs during gardening season! Our back farms gardeners help maintain and harvest organic urban farms in the backyards of community members. Our fruit share volunteers help harvest and thin fruit trees around Salt Lake to reduce food waste! We also have market volunteers who help distribute produce to community members! We help every volunteer develop the skills and knowledge they need to garden and prior experience is not required. Help us address food insecurity in Salt Lake!
Are there specific days/times that you must be available?
